All In All

New pair of earphones today. Skullcandy brand, blue spoke. I'm just now testing them on my most recent iTunes purchase... the soundtrack to the movie The Faculty. I forgot how much I love Class of 99's version of Another Brick in the Wall (Pt 2). The scene during the football game when it's playing... friggen awesome. Robert Patrick... the T-1000 as the crazy football coach... I shall always love that movie. Also, Class of '99 did Another Brick in the Wall (Pt 1) as background music for the first part of the movie. I watched the movie several times when it came out, but never recognized the signature rhythm til later, after I had become well acquainted with Pink Floyd's music.
Listened to Godsmack's "Rocky Mountain Way" again today. I don't listen to that enough.

Found a stocking cap today... it's a very fitting stocking cap... I didn't get it because it costs more than the amount of years I've been alive... But I've decided that I'd rather resent the price than regret not getting it. So sometime in the next 14 hours, it'll be mine.

Besides, an occasional treat is nice. And holiday pay helps.

New earphones due to my recent pair suddenly acting up. I prefer the rubber tipped ones rather than the hard ones, like the iPod ones. More comfy. Anyway, I occasionally have to push one or both phones back into my ear or ears. Well, I did this last night to my left and it cut out completely. No warning at all. So I messed with the cords a bit, running two fingers down the entire length, and both sides worked again. But from then on, every time I pushed on the left phone, it cut out and I had to repeat the process. It was odd.

I said before that I can't get into any of Elbow's earlier stuff. That's a lie. I love "Any Day Now" from their Asleep in the Back album.

Would You?

My ipod now has a collection of over 8,000 songs. Just added Linkin Park's A Thousand Suns album, the Transformers 3 soundtrack, and Unfortunate Snort by Pinkly Smooth, which was a band made up of a couple members of Avenged Sevenfold. They broke apart after about a year.

My three day holiday weekend started about 35 minutes ago. I wish I had something extravagant planned, but I don't. Need money for that, and friends.

This week was rough. I didn't go to my last two clinicals. The first one, I just couldn't get myself to go. So burnt out... and with what the week was giving me, or not giving me, I was lacking in the shiny happy and the motivation. And the second, I wasn't in any condition to go. I had a particularly bad day, and was greeted at the door by my husband, with a drink. I had previously decided not to drink after work, to make the morning's wake up easier, but when it's made for you and there, waiting to be consumed... So I drank it. And then had another. Went to bed around 6, got up with my alarm at 8:30, hazily stumbled downstairs, and concluded that needles were a bad idea. Went back upstairs and returned to sleep.

^I like this gif.^

Enough bad! I shall now listen to Goodbye Horses, dancing to the song in my chair. Not the movie dance, thank you, just some swaying to the beat. But, here is Jay doing his dance. (I won't post a video with the whole scene, for censorship's sake.)

I love how... healthy... he looks in this. The actor, Jason Mewes, had major substance abuse problems in the past. I used to follow Kevin Smith's blog, and he told the whole story. There was some back and forth, clean then not, but I last I knew, Mewes was doing quite well. Ah yes, I see now that "as of April 28, 2012, Mewes had maintained his sobriety for 2 years and 31 days." Good for him.

Alright. That's it. Bye.

The Fix Is In

First actions of August 27th, 2012... Get home from work (got off at midnight), get drink, watch some tv (an episode of Angel...)
Yeah that's the one. Anyway... Get a couple drinks in, play around a bit online, listening to iPod with newly remedied Californiacation album by Red Hot Chili Peppers (wasn't reading my last copy for some reason. I couldn't have that.) and then realize... come about a quarter til 2am... that my favorite band's newest album has now officially been released for almost 2 hours. And I don't have it. This will not do.

So I acquire. Copy, paste. Add. Feel a wide grin slowly spread across my face as I see the 13 tracks appear in my iTunes library. It's my passion... adding my favorite bands' newest material to my collection. I'm not guaranteeing I'll love it... I can't seem to appreciate 3 of their previous 5 albums as much as the other two... but the two that I love... I love enough to make them my favorite band.

Elbow is a British alternative (or Indie) rock band from the Manchester area. I first heard their music at the end of a Rescue Me episode and loved it. "Grounds For Divorce" at the end of episode 21 of season 5. Great song, great scene.

I have been wondering why I love the front man so much. Guy Garvey. Now, as I'm watching their performance at Manchester Cathedral from October of last year, I see that it's not only his voice, but the way he moves with the music. He seems to never stand up straight during singing, always bent over, swaying with the music. Watching him perform "The Birds," I loved the way he led the band and audience into the more electronic part of the song.

I must, must, must see them perform, live. Even if I have to go across the pond.

Alright, I couldn't find the Grounds For Divorce video from Rescue Me, so I'll instead end with something else. It's also from Rescue Me, and the "8 fingers" concept has stuck with me since. Good scene though, all around.

Ire

Another bad day. Another drink mixed. I was on my own today, in more ways that one. At work, we were a person short (surprise surprise) and had 3 people instead of 4. Found out around 9 that the other two were working together to get their work done. Didn't really bother me, just something that I registered and said "oh. well. ok then." to. Also a work uniform mishap. I'm needing a new pair of pants and apparently there are limits to how far the significant other will go to assist my problem. Which I was needing fixed by noon tomorrow. Not happening now. I'll have to find time between clinicals, work, and sleep to do it myself.

And was pretty much left to deal with my bad day by meself. So I am. And to the rest of the world I say...

Even on my weekends off I miss out on things. This weekend brings events I wish I could attend, or at least be invited to, included in, but guess not. And next weekend there's plenty I actually am invited to. But what? Oh yes. I WORK.

Sorry. Venting. As I said. Bad day.

Here... is an adequate description of me at the moment.

Now you'd have to see the whole scene to completely understand, but you get the drift.

Going gif crazy. Just trying to add humor to this post.

See Me Rollin', They Bleedin'

Just found a slug in my kitchen. That's a first. It was rather large. But dead. Didn't quite reach the moist oasis it was apparently searching for. In my kitchen.

I like slugs. With or without shells. Always have, don't know why. But when something from outside comes in, I always wonder why. What am I doing wrong.
See, look at 'im. Yeah my hands are small, but still. Big slug. Just wish I could have found him while he was still alive, so I could put him back outside. (I do the same with black ground beetles when I find them at work.)

I bought roller blades today, to accelerate my trudge to work. They were replaced by my regular shoes after about a block. I'm not sure if they needed adjusting or if I just wasn't used to blading, but they weren't sufficing. It probably doesn't help that I have freakishly small feet that are hard to find properly fitting shoes for.

Once at work, I then proceeded to readjust and retry. They worked fine up and down the vacated halls of the building I was in.

Yes. I did.
It was great.

So anyway, I'll try again, but right now they don't seem to be doing the job I hoped they would. I considered getting a Razor scooter thing instead, but then remembered I'm not an adolescent.

Newest song liked: Pioneer to the Falls by Interpol. I heard it on a show I've been watching. Got the whole album hoping it'd be a hit with me, but it had no wow factor. Still like the song, however.

My phlebotomy training is at the point of actually doing the blood draws on people. My first day was in an outpatient lab (where people are sent by their doctor after their appointments, but not patients in the hospital) and it was a very slow day. Even the lab personnel were commenting on how slow it was. That was for five hours in the afternoon. The next day was inpatients. Going around the hospital to patients that have been admitted for some reason or other. That was 5a-10a and better than I thought it would be, even with 2 hours of sleep. I expected to like outpatient better, since people are coming in more on their own accord, rather than being woke up at dawn by someone who wants to stick a needle in their body. But I liked inpatient more. The phlebotomist I was with was awesome, and seemed to convey nothing but confidence in me. Which is what I needed, especially after a patient backed out on me the day before. She knew what she was doing, remembered the patients and knew what they were like - before we went in to see them - and had the demeanor I wish I could have. One that comforts people, and at the same time keeps them interested. Quite outgoing, without being annoying.

Had a "well, shit" moment this evening. Realized I had lost my copy of Burnin Down The House by The Used. And by Talking Heads, though that one I don't miss as much. The remake is so much better, in my opinion.

Situation has been resolved.

Speaking of remakes, time to listen to Godsmack's "Rocky Mountain Way" again. Ta, loves.

Gerdbye Jooleye

Yay, just bought Godsmack's version of Rocky Mountain Way from iTunes. I probably could have found a way to not pay for it, but patience isn't my companion in this state.

What state? The rum state.

So tonight I decided to smoke a cigar (a common thing for this one) outside along with having a drink and listening to my ipod. There was no cutter around that I could find so independent and resilient me bit off the end of the cigar before lighting it. And then was spitting out bits of cigar during the first half of smoking it. But was still satisfied.

I may be writing a lot the next few weeks.

I typed of Glitch Mob before... Listening to their Drink the Sea album, I must say my favorite songs are track 2 (Bad Wings) and track 10 (Starve the Ego, Feed the Soul).

Ah, this blogger went yard saling this past weekend. Her first finds were picture worthy. Here you go...

The little guy on the top left of the shirt is my prized find. Mo from Wall-E. He is now my travel buddy. Left him in my car to be with me everywhere I go.

Tired. Long week ahead. Au revoir, les lecteurs. Pour l'instant.

Medlennyj Yad

t.A.T.u. tonight. Awesome duo. Just cracked open beer #3. German beer, Russian music.

I added a blog description. It didn't turn out the way I hoped. Wish it was versed, like poetry is supposed to be. Oh well. Those familiar with poetry should be able to understand it.

I used to be way into poetry. (Way may be understating it.) I started in jr. high, writing random poems. Then I got into Whose Line is it Anyway, and I started writing 4-versed Hoedowns about various topics.

In case you haven't watched Whose Line (shame on you, SHAME), here's a Hoedown.
This one's pretty funny. Wayne unknowingly uses Drew's idea, then Drew does the same to Ryan. And the reference to Wayne having a ticklish bum is a reference from earlier in the episode. I haven't seen this ep in years but yes, I still remember that. Maybe I'm not completely losing it. (Long grim story.)

Stephen Lynch is one of my top 5 favorite comedians.

Yesterday I logged into my Pandora internet radio account and listened to my Daft Punk station. In case you're not familiar, Pandora takes an artist you like and plays their music along with music similar to theirs. Thanks to that, I have added 3 more albums to my collection. First was Deadmau5 (pronounced Dead Mouse), which didn't turn out the way I expected. Their "Moar Ghosts N Stuff" song sounded a lot like Daft Punk (who did the music for the Tron: Legacy movie) but nothing else on the album really clicked. However, The Glitch Mob was the complete opposite. I can listed to their whole "Drink the Sea" album. Their single "Fortune Days" got me hooked. And the third album is "Don't Think" by The Chemical Brothers. I haven't listened to it yet, but I know I like them from their music on the Tomb Raider and Gone in 60 Seconds soundtracks.

Ooohh, I just found out that The Glitch Mob did a remix of The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" song. Take a listen, it's not too bad...

And here's "Fortune Days."

Alright, I'm done now. Go do something else.
