Games With Frontiers

Lately I've been having vague memories pop up of a game I used to play, and love. Finally did some research tonight. It took a little bit of work, but I found it! I realized I'd get on MSN to play it... it was called Microsoft Ants.
Multi-player. You collected food, got power ups for swimming, fire setting and extinguishing... and a rogue-ish power-up. If you got it, you could steal food from other players' anthills. Like I said, I loooved it. Sadly, while it was once quite popular, "on January 31, 2006, Microsoft's Zone retired Ants because of the lack of players." I downloaded it tonight, but it's not the same without other players. Downer.

(Change of subject) Ahh, the old Pirate vs. Ninja conflict. Seriously, c'mon... we have sexiness. And cutlasses.

Love this picture...
So today at work, I was collecting trash.
(Knock knock) "Housekeeping..."
"Come and get me!"

Ookay then. Rather memorable.

That be all.

For Boston, and those affected.

A Fine Friday

Tonight begins my weekend off, finally a full weekend. Tonight it's just been me and my child, and he passed out around 8 due to being up since 6am. So... here I am... listening to my Them Crooked Vultures, enjoying a drink, getting some new music.

I heard a couple of songs lately on the radio I liked. One was today, "Bound for the Floor" by Local H, and another from the other day is "Inhaler" by Foals. And during my search for the former's album, I came across a band called Local Natives that I'll give ear to, just for curiosity's sake.

The rhythm of "Bound for the Floor" really reminded me of Lenny Kravitz's "Lady."

Recently found out something that makes my insides all aflutter. Queens of the Stone Age is FINALLY coming out with a new album!! So excited... too excited to express... just... excited... Yay!

Here is an article about it that I found funny in places. Especially Josh Homme & Elton John's convo. Never would have expected them to collaborate, but I'm definitely looking forward to the result. Come onnn, June 4th.

Ah, new Flaming Lips album as well. Acquired but not yet experienced.

By the way, my previous post, with all the Whose Line goodies, was the first blog entry with my new, unbroken laptop screen. (I thought I marked the special occasion/return to normalcy quite well.) Now I'm just completely paranoid that any slight bump or nudge will break it again.

A month from now (less, actually) will be my much anticipated Mothers Day trip. T'will be t'werrific.

PS... I told you I'd prevail, didn't I?

Return of the Blogi

Well I'm back. Still hurt. But, better not to let being verbally attacked behind my back get me down when it's from people who can't get their own lives straightened out.

I have faults. Always will.

Anyway, it's getting closer to Mother's Day. I'm taking my mother on a weekend trip. A while back, I was visiting her and discovered that she loves gangster stuff. So upon getting home, I did some research and found some great stuff a train ride away. A 1920's style gangster dinner theatre, a gangster tour, and an old hotel that people like Liz Taylor, Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra have stayed in.

I'm pretty good at planning trips :)

Super

This morning, on my way to work, I heard a Styx song (which I identified in the first millisecond of play) and the old saying about sticks and stones came to mind. So I thought "hmm... Styx and Stones..." (meaning Rolling Stones) "I could come up with a clever play at this phrase." I do this from time to time. Tonight I decided that my phrase's third subject ("words") would be 'Loaf. Meaning Meat Loaf.

Styx and Stones may rock my bones, but 'Loaf will always roll me.

Whatcha think? I kinda like it.

I also changed my job title from what I actually do, to Specialist in Nautical Acquisition and Redistribution. Got the idea from a shirt I've been wanting to get.

Yesterday was Easter Sunday. I worked. It was my weekend off, but I switched shifts to help someone out and will have a day off next weekend. Anyway, this Robin Hood of Easter spent her shift taking candy from nurses' break rooms and giving it to patients. Well, the ones that were ok to ingest it.

Interestingly enough, Robin Hood can kinda be considered a (non-nautical) pirate, and Cary Elwes has played both.

I'm rambling. Deal.

So I've gone on and on about the supergroup Them Crooked Vultures... which includes Dave Grohl, whom has formed a supergroup of his own, called Sound City Players. Featuring himself, my Josh Homme, Slipknot's frontman, Eleven's Alain Johannes, Trent Reznor (hell yes), Rick Nielsen (baseball cap guy from Cheap Trick)... and apparently "many more."

Must. Know. MORE.

Alright. I'll stop. You've stayed your hour.

Happy Belated Easter.
